New Kia Sorento Earns a Top Safety Pick Award from the IIHS

March 13th, 2015 by

Back in 2012, a previous version of the Kia Sorento performed rather poorly on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) battery of tests. It looks like the Kia brand learned from its past mistakes, though—because the new 2016 Kia Sorento SUV actually earned a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS this time. It’s a triumphant “from worst to first” story for the Sorento and the Kia brand itself.

The 2016 Kia Sorento even performed well in the newer small overlap crash test—rating “good” and leading the IIHS to state that the vehicle has “a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.” That’s an impressive statement, obviously, and it should put customers at ease when it comes to buying a new Sorento.

The top safety rating, in fact, only adds to the great package of the Kia Sorento—as Kia’s Super Bowl commercial reminded us, the Sorento is actually the “perfect getaway vehicle.”  There are many trim, powertrain, and interior options to choose from too—so come see us at Carriage Kia to learn more about the Sorento today.
