Kia Hybrids and PHEVs Revealed at Chicago Auto Show
At the Chicago Auto Show, which took place from February 11 to 20, Kia unveiled new Kia hybrids and PHEVs that will hit showrooms later this year.
After rousing success with the Kia Soul EV and the Optima Hybrid, Kia is establishing itself even more in the ecofriendly vehicle community with a new hybrid and a PHEV version of its successful Optima model as well as the all-new Kia Niro, another hybrid and a stylish SUV.
The Optima Hybrid has a new powertrain plus a more aerodynamic design for maximum fuel economy, giving it a 10% increase over the previous Optima Hybrid. Kia also says the new Optima Hybrid will have more smart technology that will provide driver assist features.
The Optima PHEV is Kia’s first and has all the same great features as the Hybrid version but with the addition of an all-electric range which Kia says is “among the best in the segment.” Kia’s goal for the Niro is an mpg of 50, which is made possible by its all-new eco-car platform.
The three vehicles have debuted under Kia’s EcoDynamics sub-brand.
