2017 Kia Sportage Receives Top Safety Pick+ Rating
The 2017 Kia Sportage is a standout for more than one reason, but a big benefit is its safety. The Kia Sportage earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ Rating.
So how did the Sportage earn the highest safety rating possible? With lots of Kia engineering. The Sportage has a wide range of driver-assistance systems and safety features that include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning System, Bi-HID headlights, and more. Plus, with the all-new structure of the Sportage, it’s much improved from its predecessors with Advanced High Strength Steel. Its body is made up of 51 percent of AHSS versus the 2016’s 18%.
“We are especially proud to have our all-new Sportage earn that TSP+ rating in light of IIHS’ new, more challenging standards validating the efforts of our engineers and the priority we place on safety,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning at KMA.
The Sportage was tested in five crashworthiness tests – small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength, and head restraints. It scored high in all aspects, so you’ll feel safe and confident behind the wheel of the 2016 Kia Sportage.
