2017 Kia Sorento 5-Star Safety RatingSUVs are some of the most competitive models when it comes to space and fuel efficiency but Kia has taken the game one step further. The 2017 Kia Sorento is available at dealerships now and it carries an award few other SUVs can match. For the 2017 model year, the Kia Sorento has earned the highest rating possible in a government safety test.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the 2017 Kia Sorento a five-star overall rating. The popular SUV took home five stars in the front and side crash tests and earned four stars in the rollover crash test.

The NHTSA rating applies to both the Kia Sorento’s front-wheel and all-wheel drivetrains. While the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has yet to test the latest Sorento, odds are it will perform just as well.

For the latest model year, the Kia Sorento comes with six airbags, antilock brakes, vehicle stability management, and electronic stability control as standard features. Available safety features include autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot detection, and forward-collision warning.

The Chevrolet Equinox, one of the Sorento’s top competitors fell short of the top rating, earning a four-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA.
